October 25, 2009 - Funding Drive Accordion Party!
There was much huffing, puffing and pressing of buttons in the CKUT broadcast studio during this second Freekick funding drive extravaganza for 2009, as we welcomed Mussaver and the Coal Choir (AKA Katherine Peacock, Fiona Ainsworth, Sarah Tracy and Arwen Fleming), Jordi Rosen and Pierre Gauvin into our studios for an unprecendented accordion blowout! Non-accordionist Aaron Rosenblum also dropped by to grace us with a tune on his tiny but surprisingly loud parlor guitar. We hope you enjoyed it... and for those who actually contributed some support to the station during this crucial time, many thanks!

And of course, huge gratitude to the wonderful musicians who dragged themselves over to the station on a Sunday morning just to help us out with their good vibes and beautiful music. Check them out when they perform near you! In particular, don't miss the limited engagement performance of Olivia: A Folk Opera / Une Eulogie Musicale by Mussaver & the Coal Choir at St. James United Church's Dawson Hall (463 Ste-Catherine O.) on Wed. Nov. 25th, Thurs. Nov. 26th, & Saturday Nov. 28th. Doors open at 7 pm, show at 8 - tickets are only $12!

We also called on the support of some fine prerecorded music by the likes of:
Honey Cone, Roland Kirk, The 3rd Generation Band, Gal Costa, Luis Gonzaga, Chango, Moodring, John Lee Hooker, Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band, Pauline Oliveros, Mahala Rai Banda, Rob Curto, The Fugs, and Intercom!

Want to experience this unique event over & over again at your leisure? Just download an mp3 of the show:
Or stream it from the CKUT archives page: you'll be wanting the show from Sun Oct 25 from 11:00 to 13:00.

That's it! Catch the Freekick again next Sunday at 11 am on CKUT 90.3 fm, when we'll be back to our usual laconic selves (i.e. no more repeating of phone numbers!)

cheerio
Dave
