October 11, 2009 - Roots and Brunches

A new era dawned in the history of the Freekick Radio Show this Sunday morning. The very first weekly edition of Freekick aired on CKUT 90.3 FM. Now, you too can enjoy a lively repast of brunchtime fare, guaranteed to nourish the most music-starved soul.

If you tuned in live you heard from none other than Roland Kirk, Pepper Adams, Billie Holiday, Marvin Gaye, Odyssey: The Band, The Billy Cobham, Pernambuco do Pandeiro e Seu Regional, Pascal Comelade, Ennio Morricone, Hell's Gate Band, The Clash, The Beat, Rotfront, Lake of Stew, The Unsettlers, Tuomari Nurmio & Alamaailman Vasarat, Bloodshot Bill, United Steelworkers of Montreal, Kevin Blechdom & Eugene Chadbourne, Simply Saucer, The Kinks, Soft Machine, The Scenics, Tonsstartsbandht, and the Rockabye Baby series.

If you didn't tune in live, here's your chance to download an mp3 of the show right now!
Or just stream it from CKUT's archive page : you'll want to be asking for Sun. Oct. 11 from 11:03 - 13:02.

So tune in next week, October 18th, for another music filled brunch of champions! Our next two shows take place during CKUT's annual Funding Drive, so expect a few guests in studio and Dave will be back from his trip to New York to help cajole you into picking up the phone and pledging generously to keep independent radio on the air.
