Well folks, for me last Saturday was a long adventure in sleep-deprived muddling -- the whole day & evening, I felt like I had just got up after only a few hours of shut-eye. A very long morning.... But I'm not complaining: Montreal had one of its nicest weather days for a long time, and people were raring to go enjoy it. Did Saturday's show perhaps provide the soundtrack for some of this midsummer night's fun? We sure hope so!
This weekend's late morning fare included hearty morsels from the following musical chefs:
A Tribe Called Quest, Roland Kirk, Parliament, Di Melo, Jackie Mittoo, Annette Peacock, The Kinks, M. Ashraf (feat. Ahmed Rushdi), Ocote Soul Sounds and Adrian Quesada, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, The Woodchoppers Association et Jah Youssouf, A Hawk And A Hacksaw, Pascal Comelade/ Pierre Bastien/ Jac Berrocal/ Jaki Liebezeit, József Attila (recitation: Major Tamás), A.E. Bizottság (pictured here), Ilya Zakharev & Ognyan Vasilev, Little Howling Wolf, Saint Dirt Elementary Band, Ratchet Orchestra, Blues Control, The Fall, Jody Diamond, Huun Huur Tu and Carmen Rizzo, Kevin Breit and Jesse Stewart, and Shalabi Effect.
