May 9, 2009 - A Real Mother
In my experience, every live radio session has its glitches. Dead air, skipping CDs, bad levels - it's always something. However, I think Swan would agree with me that last weekend's Free Kick show will get the prize for being the most nerve-wracking ever, due to multiple difficulties, hinderances, annoyances and setbacks. Ouch!

Despite the heavy odds, we managed to crank out a pretty good show if I do say so myself, featuring some of the very finest in stress-relieving sound by artists such as:

Boogie Down Productions, Roland Kirk, Boredoms, Illés,
Serge Gainsbourg (vocals: Jean-Claude Brialy), Googoosh,
Sugar Mary, Pekka Airaksinen, Barnyard Drama, David Bowie, Elfin Saddle, Tuli Kupferberg, David Peel & The Lower East Side, The Jolly Boys, Palace Brothers, Gogol Bordello, Warsaw Village Band, Lord Sitar, Polyphonic Size, and Jackie Mittoo!

And, before the end of the show everything was right as rain thanks to the efforts of Marc - who spent his Saturday evening hunting down and fixing the real problem, while we just fretted about our mixes. Thanks for sticking with us, listeners!

We'll try again on Saturday night, May 23, from 9-11 pm eastern on CKUT 90.3 fm.

Dave
