Gleeful over the big change south of the border, Freekickers just couldn't sit still during last Saturday's show. Congratulations to the USA on your new star president! Keep up the good work and let's make sure some of that promise is realized...
There's no telling whether music on the radio has any significant effect on these matters, but just in case, Freekick is happy to contribute as much forward motion as we can. Saturday's show ran with the following artists:
Lil Wayne, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Parliament, James Black, Mr. Jamo, Jorge Ben, Balla et ses Balladins, The Maytones, The Souljazz Orchestra, Little Feat, A Banda Tropicalista Do Duprat, Richard Cheese, Voice, DJ Dolores, The Slits (pictured above), The Fall, A_dontigny, Geordie Haley, Joni Mitchell, Mita Stoicheva, Ry Cooder, The Jack & Jim Show (Jimmy Carl Black RIP), Roy Orbison, Penny Lang, The Fugs, David Peel, King Kahn & The BBQ Show, Jeffrey Lewis, and Intercom.
That's it for now...
Oh but wait, did I mention that the CKUT 2008 Funding Drive is now going on? Well, if you've read this far, you may want to consider donating some money to help us keep operating.
It costs $50 for CKUT to put out one hour of radio. That's $100 for each deceptively simple Freekick show - produced entirely by volunteers! CKUT offers the exceptional, unexpected, off the wall sounds that you need to have as an option in the increasingly bland world of mass entertainment. So why not help us out?
Freekick's funding drive show is on Saturday Nov. 22 from 9-11 pm eastern on CKUT 90.3 fm.
Pledge often and extravagantly!
ciao
Dave
