July 7, 2007 - Under Mi Free Kick
Triple sevens on the calendar! An auspicious occasion for a musical adventure, be it the Boredoms arranging 77 drummers in a spiral beside the Brooklyn Bridge to entertain a surprisingly huge number of fans, or... Shawn and I goofing off in the CKUT control room in Montreal during yet another episode of Free Kick.

Personally, all the top-notch musical action that has been going on around here during June & July (right when I, like so many Montrealers, had to pack up all my stuff and move house) has me almost worn out... but after the killer Mahmoud Ahmed show on Sunday I'm ready for a lot more, so bring it on! Black Uhuru anyone?

In case you're wondering, this edition of the Free Kick show featured artistes including: Yami Bolo, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Wayne Smith, Johnnie Clarke, Terrie Ganzie, Niney the Observer, Michael Rose, Mahmoud Ahmed, Girl Talk, Otto, Bole 2 Harlem, Malouma, Bat Makumba, Brian Eno & David Byrne, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Battles, Sea of Song Trio, Fire of Space, Dudu Pukwana, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Mohammed Rafi, Premiata Forneria Marconi, 801, Quiet Sun, Cordel do Fogo Encantado, and Lou Reed.

If you want to hear it again, you can download the show using these links:
or go to the CKUT archive page and stream it by asking for the show from Saturday July 7 between 21:02 and 23:03.

Next show is July 21 from 9-11 eastern on CKUT 90.3 fm. Can we expect you? OK it's a date then.

a bientot
Dave
