Well, now that the CKUT funding drive is over it's business as usual in the Free Kick laboratory. One last gasp: please don't forget to pay, those of you who pledged! Of course, you can donate to the station anytime, but if you cough up soon you will be entered in the prize drawings, with the chance to win some great stuff such as a trip anywhere in Latin America or cool audio gear - check ckut.ca for details.
Looking back at the playlist for last Saturday's show, I'd have to say that this is probably one of the few times the Nihilist Spasm Band has ever been found in such close proximity to the theme from Fantasy Island. Not only that, but we broke the Blue Oyster Cult barrier at last! But enough self-praise. If you want to download the show, you can use the following links:

If you want to stream the show, go to the CKUT archive page... the show started at 21:05 and ended at 23:03.
One last thing: I played a track on Saturday by the late Ivor Cutler (picture above), and want to add a few more words about him. This guy, who passed away this past March 6 at the age of 83, was a truly unique artist who could count John Peel and John Lennon among his devoted fans (in fact he appeared as Buster Bloodvessel in the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour film). There is no mistaking his distinctive dry & precise Glaswegian diction when he launches into one of those surrealistic vignettes, slyly fracturing some everyday scenario into utter absurdity to the accompaniment of his reliably wheezy harmonium. I recommend that you check him out further! Many of his recordings are still easily available.
Here is another example of his art, a video of an Ivor Cutler peformance on the Old Grey Whistle Test, via WFMU's great Beware of the Blog site.
That's all for now. Remember, the next Free Kick show is on Saturday April 29 from 9-11 pm eastern time on CKUT 90.3 fm.
Dave
