July 25, 2010 - Freekick Hums
Last week's show was a real humfest. Dave was away, but the show shook, rattled, and rolled along with a clown brandishing wood instruments, no less. New releases and old faves from all over the world filled out the two hours. Just take a look at who I played for your delectation:

Sam Cooke, Roland Kirk, Charles Mingus (pictured here) with Jean Shepherd, Bela Fleck, Zakir Hussain, Edgar Meyer, Lata Mangeshkar, James Brown, Nice And Nasty 3, M.I.A., Jordi Rosen, North My Love, Djalma Correa, Remora, Irata, Gang of Four, John Zorn, King Crimson, Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, The Bollywood Brass Band, and Kathy Kennedy!

July 4, 2010 - Big Fun
Independence Day, Freekick style! No we're not USAmerican, and we're not stateside, but that didn't stop us from having a little fun with the holiday. We played the Star Spangled Banner and a radio opera about an executed US Army deserter named Eddie Slovik, featuring Kurt Vonnegut (pictured here).

If you tuned in, this is who you heard -- Parliament, Roland Kirk, Miles Davis, Cedric 'Im' Brooks, Zinja Hlungwani, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Dave Soldier, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, Kurt Vonnegut, Ernie K-Doe, R. Stevie Moore, Roy Campbell Jr., Åke Hodell, Bruce Haack, The Beatles, Arrigo Barnabé, Gaby Kerpel, Billy Stewart, Sublime, Sixtoo, and, believe it or not, AC/DC!
