February 16, 2008 - Make It Stop!
February, I mean... enough already with this torture! We at the Free Kick can only hope that last Saturday's show provided you dear listeners/ readers with a little musical relief from the dull wintry monotony currently afflicting Montreal. With more nods to Black History Month as well as a few post-valentine hangovers, we did our best to brighten up the airwaves with selections from artists including:

Ennio Morricone, Alif, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Jorge Ben, Charles Mingus, Nicole Mitchell's Black Earth Ensemble, Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath, The Pharaohs, Gil Scott-Heron, Original Cast of the Gospel at Colonus, Caetano Veloso, Adriano Celentano, Ross Johnson, Richard Hell & the Voidoids, Basil Kirchin, Jani Christou, The Kinks, Wire, Burt Ward (w/Frank Zappa), GTOs, The Buzzcocks, Gang Of Four, Joy Division, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Baby Dee, and Lennie Hibbert!

If you want to bathe in this experience over and over again, look no further than the CKUT archives... here are the links to download the show in mp3 format:
If you just want to stream the show, go to the CKUT archive web page, and ask for Sat Feb 16 from 21:03 to 23:02.

By the way, it is usual for the show before us to go over time and encroach on our slot. This week, the last selection they played (up till 21:03:30 or so) featured some particularly crass & stupid lyrics of a sort you would never hear us play - it's just not the Free Kick style! So don't be put off if you hear stuff like that at the time when our show is supposed to be starting.

That's it for now... don't forget to check back for the next edition of the Free Kick, Saturday March 1 from 9-11 pm on CKUT 90.3 fm!

ciao
Dave

BONUS!!
===> Right this way folks, the Free Kick Video Lounge beckons with a raft of semi-related video links!

Enjoy! [Whoops here they are, sorry about the previous omission...]
